Reducing Abortion

Christians throughout history have sought to support the flourishing and protection of life. Centuries before Roe v. Wade, the early church battled infanticide in the Roman Empire. Christians, however, aren’t the only ones who care about reducing abortions. The number of abortions performed in America has decreased over the past decade while public opinion for pro-life policies has risen. This Q Panel considers creative and practical solutions to protecting the most vulnerable.


Jenell Paris is professor of anthropology at Messiah College in Grantham, PA. She has published four books and many articles on topics such as sexuality, gender, and birth control, including Birth Control for Christians: Making Wise Choices and The End of Sexual Identity.

Angie Weszely is President of Caris, a faith-based nonprofit providing support to all women facing unplanned pregnancies. Angie is dedicated to creating holistic, innovative solutions to the divisive issue of abortion, primarily by mobilizing Christians to work for the dignity and welfare of both the woman and the child.

Sarah Brown is the CEO of The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, a non-profit that promotes values, behavior, and policies to reduce teen and unplanned pregnancies. She led studies in maternal and child health at the Institute of Medicine. She holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a Masters in Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina.
