Turning Public Schools Around
Clip from
The Future of Education
by
Sajan George
How do we redesign education in a way that embraces the power of the gospel? Some insist privatization is the solution while others fight for the neighborhood school to be reinvigorated. Sajan George offers a framework for how to approach a new design for education that is rooted in the Gospel.

I love that he is thinking about education in terms of renewing/restoring each child, instead of thinking about educating students to be good citizen or to work lucrative jobs.
@Sajan: What kind of curriculum would you suggest?
Leslie Marquard
Sajan,
I've watched this a few times now...so much richness in your retelling of this story. I'm possibly being engaged to help turn around a public school system as well...might be calling you for collaboration opportunities. Stay tuned!

I am encouraged by your ideas about turning education around. However, with our present educational system so opposed to any kind of Biblical principles being used in our teaching, I see great resistance to what you are advocating we do. I taught public school for 33 years. Praise God I was able to teach literature to high school students--most of it full of Biblical references and stories, thus enabling me to teach basic Bible beliefs in the guise of teaching literature!! Never once was I questioned about it, except for the occasional comment from a student, "I thought we couldn't talk about God in school." I always replied, "We can study anything in the textbook." Ever since our government has tried to take God out of school, teaching has become increasingly more difficult. But we will never be able to take God out of school as long as there are Christian teachers and students in our schools. God bless!!
