Inoculating a Generation
by
Skye Jethani
Church practitioners have been sent scrambling by the growing awareness that an entire generation is leaving the church. Many have attempted to answer why they are leaving, but few are offering solutions to stop the hemorrhaging. Author Skye Jethani says the answer might be changing the way we’re relating to God. Instead of life over, under, or even for God, he says this generation should pursue life with God.

We are taking this issue head on, and offering actionable, practical ways to address the problem, without undercutting the foundation of our faith. Check us out at
http://www.changingthefaceofchristianity.com.
More than a makeover, we are educating today's christians on how to reverse negative christian stereotypes through a maturity/transformation strategy.

Skye, I appreciate your perspective! And I miss hearing you speak at Blanchard. Thanks for your insight - I look forward to reading the new book.

Wow, what an insight. I have never heard Skye speak or heard of him before this. He really has done a tremendous job of simplifying what I have been feeling about the American church lately but couldn't put into words. Thanks for the wisdom you shared.

Once again, I am reminded of the simple and profound wisdom of the Westminster divines who gave us the simple summation of the calling to "....glorify God and enjoy Him forever." I appreciated Skye's reminder of the priority of our high calling - WHO we are called to live with - forever. This orientation changes everything.

"Before we are called to something or somewhere, we are called to someone."
Thanks for this honest evaluation of the current scene of Christianity. You've hit it dead on. May we strive to live WITH God.

Thirty years of preaching around the point and missing it much of the time.
Wes Roberts
Provocative and needed thinking. Thank you. This will be played out on my blog and future mentoring endeavors around the globe. Needed and fresh wisdom that releases. Again...thank you!

If everyone followed the gospels that were left for us to follow as his disciples and stopped preaching and teaching our own thoughts and ideologise, the young people will know who he realy is.
When they get to know who he is and that he cares for them and all that encompases, thye will stay with him regardless. We are either driven by love or fear, and unfortunately the church has failed to truely express a loving God, so there is a fear of just not knowing who he really is because of the lack of knowledge from our elders.

Love THIS! It is a confirmation of God's perpetual purpose, for His beloved creation.

You are right on the money Skye. If we are living with the realization and belief that (as Christ taught) the kingdom of heaven is within us we will understand that we are living WITH God. This changes everything. How we approach our work, our families, our enemies and friends - in short all of creation. I actually decided to write about this more on my blog

if you're interested.

Didn't Jesus simply say, "Come, follow me." He wants us with him. Our journey is meant to be in His company. To walk with Him, live with Him. His Spirit leads us, His Father longs for us, He brings us home.

Think of how most youth programs are oriented. Living FOR God. Mission projects, clean up some neighborhood, build a park bench, serving at a food pantry. All good things, but the focus is 'working for the Lord'.
Paul Elkins
Thank you for your heart of God.
