Design Intervention
by
Mel McGowan
Model cities like Portland have been touted for an intentional design that naturally intersects citizens with commerce, recreation and informal run-ins—it’s all part of what makes a community thrive. God uses place to shape our relational context with Him and others. Mel McGowan, founder of Visioneering Studios, explains how urban “Design Intervention” has renewed Portland and is embedding the seed of the Kingdom into communities around the world.

I thoroughly enjoyed this presentation. With a back ground in both architecture and ministry, I love the theology presented around sacred spaces and third places. I am a huge advocate of the New Urbanism concepts, but after hearing Mel present his thoughts, I know understand better why I do.

Thanks Steven, I really appreciate your thoughts, especially coming from an architect. Too many architects I've met (Christian or not) have a focus on sculptural "object" making, rather than placemaking through their modernist education.
